Tomato & Peppers

Extending Shelf Life & Quality by Ethylene Removal

Tomatoes which keep longer than expected

One of our main benefits is the improved appearance for tomatoes and peppers and also the longer shelf life for the producer and consumer. Tomatoes and peppers will have better texture and improved shore values, they will also have improved weight as dehydration is less when using our technology.

One of the effects of ethylene on many species is the induced loss of chlorophyll and where tomatoes are being sold on the vine it has a huge difference on the vine colour and the retention of tomatoes on the vine.

We have achieved improved shelf life of cherry, piccolo and large vine tomatoes in tests using the PCO technology. Ethylene removal can help extend shelf life and promote a healthier, quality product.
